Ward Village Gateway

Ward_Village_Gateway_TowersWard Village Gateway will be the newest residential addition to Ward Village, a 60-acre master planned community located in the Kakaako district in Honolulu. The luxury condominium tower will include a public park and two mixed-use towers with about 236 total units and 20,000 square feet of retail.

Ward Village Gateway is the first residential and commercial development in Phase Two of the Ward Village Master Plan, a project to create an energy-friendly, green neighborhood with an urban lifestyle. The development highlights an artistic vibe, open spaces, and pedestrian-friendly streets with walking and biking features. A 50,000 square-foot Whole Foods Market is also included in this phase’s development.

Planned to replace the existing Ward Warehouse shopping center along Auahi Street, Ward Village Gateway will be located in Honolulu between the city’s downtown and Waikiki. In addition to the many shops in Ward Village, the neighborhood is surrounded with restaurants and shops. The waterfront is just down the road, where residents can visit the beach, the harbor, or exciting waterparks.

While many unit and community features are not yet released, residents will love the on-site four-acre public park that connects the heart of Ward Village to the center of Kewalo Basin Harbor. The park, named Village Green, will include water elements, seating, native exotic flowers, and walking paths. The park will also be used for conventions, community events, and other gatherings for Honolulu.

Nick Vanderboom, senior vice president of development for Ward Village, expressed his excitement and vision for the project and its newest residential community. “The first phase of our master plan is bringing significant economic growth and new community amenities to the neighborhood, furthering our mission of revitalizing and enhancing this growing community,” Vanderboom said. “The Ward Village Gateway project will connect the community from mauka to makai with the introduction of a new public park, helping to realize our vision for an integrated, sustainable neighborhood that provides a gathering place for all of Honolulu.”

Ward Village Gateway will be designed by architects Richard Meier & Partners in collaboration with executive architect, Architects Hawaii, and a team of local consultants. The development is planned to premiere in 2017.
